A generic AI blog can list festivals. It cannot honestly say what it felt like to attend, whether the programmers cared, whether the filmmaker support was real, whether the audience showed up, whether the laurels helped, or whether you would spend the submission fee again.
Use this format for every festival you write about:
I have won more than 50 festival awards, and the truth is this: not every festival is worth the fee, but the right festival can change the life of a film. Some festivals care deeply about filmmakers. Some create genuine community. Some introduce you to distributors, programmers, press, future collaborators, and audiences who truly understand the work. Others simply take the submission fee and disappear.
This series is my attempt to separate the useful from the noisy. I am not writing from theory. I am writing as a filmmaker who has submitted, waited, won, lost, traveled, sat through Q&As, watched audiences respond, and learned which festivals actually help independent filmmakers move forward.
